The VTM is the new engine – CIK-FIA homologated – of the Vortex range made for the MINI class, followed by one only international regulation by FIA Karting.
Vortex R&D staff focused on the creation of a fully new engine compared to the past.
Among the innovations introduced, it features a newly designed head, cylinder and crankcase, all featured by an increase in their radiating surfaces better allowing the cooling of the engine itself.
Furthermore, as far as the cylinder is concerned, the geometry of the ports and transfers have been renewed.
Further developments were also made regarding the crankshaft and exhaust, both of which are newly designed.

The innovations introduced by Vortex Engines, however, were not only limited to the restyle of the engine components, but also involved the updating of its manufacturing processes. The VTM, in fact, benefits from an additional manufacturing process, the paired crankcase boring.

This additional machining phase of the engine crankcase makes it possible to achieve a higher final quality level of the product with positive effects both in terms of quality and repeatability of the various models produced as well as in terms of performance and reliability. On the other hand, those features necessary for the engine to comply with current CIK-FIA homologation regulations remain unchanged, such as the maximum speed set at 14,000 rpm.
